Gap is opening their first Milan store and to celebrate this they are collaborating with Valentino on a capsule collection. Combining luxury with basics, the women range have been created by Valentinos creative directors. My first thought was “if Lanvin can do H&M, then why wouldn’t Valentino do Gap”, but on thinking it through, I don’t really think it’s the same. H&M is young and hip and fashionable and very, very on trend, which makes it all OK for big designers to work with them. Gap is just soo Gap! It’s too american, and too basic, and too boring and waay to out of date. Gap and Valentino just don’t go together, in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what they manage to create.
