Sales time is coming on soon and a girl should be prepared. Sales are often chaotic, crowded and hot (specially during winter). It’s cold outside and we’re running a marathon inside the store wearing or thickest jacket.
Rule 1: When going to sales, think carefully before leaving the house. Wear as light clothes as possible. Wear flats and make sure they’re easy to take off and on, that means no straps or nothing to tie. Don’t wear a very thick and warm jacket, better to go with a thick cardigan and a scarf.
Rule 2: Know what to look for before you go. My tip is to go to the store before the sale and try on things you like. Not as crowded as when the sales begin and easier to see what’s actually in the store without all those people in it.
Rule 3: Don’t buy something because it’s cheap. We easily get tricked by all those “red” prices and I’m sure I’m not the only one here who ever brought something because it simply didn’t cost too much. Remember that what your paying for that top you’ll never will use is what you can spend on something else instead. Like a great lunch after the shopping spree : )
Rule 4: Designer items. That dress that was just too expensive to buy at regular price may actually be affordable at sales time. This is your chance to buy those pieces you really like but that you couldn’t afford or didn’t think was worth spending your money on.
Rule 5: Classics- this is the perfect time to shop classic items like a trench for example. The classic black, beige or grey trench-coat will never go out of style and that’s why it’s worth looking for one with really good quality and perfect fitting. At sales, try and buy those things.
Rule 6: Don’t buy after trends. That skirt that everyone has been wearing the last months will not be “in” after the sale. that skirt already had it’s time and now it will soon be over. Don’t spend your money on the super trendy things that everyone already have. That’s a boring and a big waste of money. Rather look for something that’s not trendy at all, something that’s more fitted to you and your style.
Rule 7: Only buy what you really, really want. It’s easy to slip away when everything is on reduced price but make sure you really like it. Take your time in the fitting room and be honest to yourself. Do I really like it, do I really need it? Ask yourself these questions and make sure to be honest to yourself.
