Clothes from 1920s to the 1980s is called Vintage. Nothing will make your style and wardrobe as personal as those cool vintage items you find in the back of your older relatives closets, in vintage shops or items passed on from older generations.

The latest is very personal and that’s the absolute best. But I have my family on another continent and I’m really not sure if I ever would find anything cool in their leftovers : ) So my perfect solution for finding vintage items is as simply as look in the large number of vintage shops out there.

Where flats and be prepared to do a lot of walking to find these special items. With practice you will get better. In the beginning when shopping vintage, you’ll get surprised by how messy some boutiques are. Not all the stores are well-sorted! Many stores are very messy and the clothes will not be hanging after a theme. So be prepared that it this is a very time and energy consuming activity : )

But when you finally find that piece and you fall in love, you’ll see it’s really worth it. It’s a special feeling you get when wearing that unique item that you know you are the only one wearing. You will feel special, unique, stylish or that’s at least how I feel and I do hope you will feel the same.

And when you find designer clothes at a bargain price, that’s a really advantage. Look for cool designer pieces from special time eras. Don’t be afraid to ask the person behind the desk.

When buying vintage make sure the clothes really fits, and if they don’t, you should only buy it if it’s big enough for a tailor to make it fit. If you’ve never been vintage shopping, try and find accessories such as belts, clutches, jewelry or a scarf or hat. Start with smaller steps and get into jackets and “bigger” things when you feel you’re ready for it.

What makes vintage clothing really special is the uniqueness of the clothes. The clothes are often made in a small quantity and sometimes only made for one person. The clothes are often made to be passed on to other family members and are therefor made from robust materials. The clothes was often hand-made back in the time. The old fabrics are very hard to find today and is usually very expensive.
